It’s the little things!
Hey sis, that new apartment is not gonna decorate itself! Certain decor can be costly and can hurt your wallet. Especially after that security deposit. But there are some small decorations that can make a big difference while sticking to a budget.
Motion Sensor Lights
These small motion sensor lights stick right underneath existing cabinets. They make a big difference, especially in a dimly lit kitchen.
Candles
Candles appeal to both the senses of sight and smell. They go great on a mantle, bathroom, or dining table. My favorite candles are the three wicks from Bath & Body Works. They’re potent and last a long time.
The first thing your guests will say is, “wow, it smells good in here!”
Chair Covers
Have you ever wished the color of your chairs were different? Chair covers provide just that! You can easily change the color theme of your dining room with simple chair covers while protecting your furniture at the same time. And most people won’t even know it’s a cover unless you tell them.
Books and Donut Vases
A stack of books provides a really elegant look to a living room. I mean, it’s really giving bougee honey!
You can buy a stack that will fit your living room theme like this one. If you’re looking for a an even cheaper option, local thrift stores like Goodwill have large book collections that you could use as decor for your living room.
Shein also has fake books, at a fraction of the cost, that are purposefully designed for home decor.
Accent vases also compliment a stack of books. Shein has really beautiful ones for unbelievably cheap!
Wallflowers
A scented wallflower plugin adds great smells to your place, but the light-up ones are even better in a bathroom. It acts as a night light so you don’t have to be blinded by bright lights when using the bathroom at night.
Color Accents against Neutral Tones
Color accents such as colorful flowers add a pop of color to a neutral tone. These help give the space a refreshing look.
Pillows
Throw pillows on a bed or couch provides fullness and contrast to the room. If you can’t find a pillow to match your theme, you can always buy pillow covers to easily transform an existing throw pillow.
I recommend using a pillow insert so that you can switch up the covers anytime you want. I HIGHLY recommend getting throw pillows that are larger than 20×20’s. But, make sure you get pillow covers that are a size down from your inserts.
Holiday themed pillows covers can easily convert your space into a holiday room. Just make sure to get a cover that is a size down from your pillow inserts so that you don’t have extra fabric flopping around.
Greenery
Whether real or fake, greenery adds natural earth tones to your living space. Greenery works well in almost any room and can also provide that pop of color you’re looking for.
FYI, this plant was only 5$.
Remote Control Lights
Remote controlled lights are an easy yet convenient way to light up any room. They have different color options that can help create any mood. I personally got these on sale at Aldi but you can get similar ones here.
Fridge Shelf Liners
Fridge Liners are a great way to protect your shelves while providing a uniform appearance. They’re also really easy to wash and replace.
Lanterns
Small lanterns go well on a console or entrance table. They fit well into a rustic themed setting. I got this particular one from Aldi for only fifteen bucks!
There’s also really large lanterns that go really well next to a fireplace or front steps. These are more pricey but give your fireplace a stellar appearance.
Lazy Susan
Lazy susans are turntables that give functionality to any cabinet. You can organize any small items and have easy accessibility to all of them. Plus, they’re fun to spin around!
Themed Shower Curtains
Installing a themed shower curtain adds character to your bathroom. It’s typically the largest and most noticeable piece in a small bathroom.
