There’s nothing worse than a chaotic closet to ruin your life. Ok, that’s a little dramatic. But a crazy closet can leave you annoyed and overwhelmed every time you enter it. Luckily, there are smart hacks that will make your closet organized.
Whether you want to start fresh or you just don’t know where to start, we’re sharing a few tips that’ll hopefully inspire you to get started.
Peg Board for Purses and Jewelry
Adding a peg shelf is a convenient way to store purses and tote bags. It makes them easier to access and utilize readily available wall space.
This clever hack is also nice because you can hang your bags while still being able to bring one down easily. It’s like having your own shopping mall!
Use the Same Hangers for Uniformity
Believe it or not, having different color hangers actually make your closet look more chaotic. It’s a little detail that has a big effect. Use the same hanger to maintain a uniform appearance in your closet.
Wicker Baskets
Wicker baskets work really well on small closet shelves. They easily line the very top of closet shelves to keep less frequently used items out of sight. I got a few of these particular ones from Home Goods.
Shoe Shelf Storage
Adding shoe shelves against a blank closet wall saves a lot of space by confining your shoes to one area. Wide horizontal shelves also work well under existing wire racks.
Floor Storage Drawers
If you’re short on storage space in your bedroom, adding storage drawers onto the floor of a closet definitely helps!
There are cheaper options for fabric drawers that are lightweight and easy to move around. Ikea also has some wood storage drawers for a more stable option.
Roll Your Clothes
If you’re like my boyfriend, then you just can’t keep a neatly folded drawer to save your life. Luckily, the rolling hack can indeed save your drawer’s life! Rolling your clothes helps to easily visualize the one you want. Plus, it shaves a few minutes off your folding time. It’s a win-win baby!
Cube Shelving
Standard closet wire racks can hold up to 80 pounds without falling. Adding cube shelving to an existing rack can provide vertical storage for small items. You can also line each cube with collapsible fabric bins. This will give it a more uniform appearance.
Closet Shelf Lighting
A smart hack to create a modernized closet is by adding lights to the underside of shelves. Motion sensor lights will make you feel like you’re in a Kardashian’s closet!
